Tao Climate Limited is committed to using artificial intelligence in a transparent, responsible and human-centred way. This AI Transparency Policy explains how Tao Carbon AI uses AI, what the system does, what it does not do, how users remain in control, and how we manage accuracy, safety, data and accountability.

1. About Tao Carbon AI.

Tao Carbon AI is an AI-enabled carbon awareness and verified CO2 removal platform for travel.

The service helps users describe or enter a flight, understand the estimated carbon footprint of that journey, and purchase verified CO2 removal from Tao Climate's available carbon removal inventory.

Tao Carbon AI is designed to make climate action easier to understand and easier to take. It is not designed to make legally binding decisions about users, restrict access to services, assess personal characteristics, determine eligibility for public or private benefits, or make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

2. Clear AI notice.

When you use Tao Carbon AI, you are using an AI-enabled service.

Artificial intelligence may be used to help interpret flight-related user input, structure flight search information, support carbon-aware explanations, and generate user-facing summaries. Tao Carbon AI also uses software, APIs, databases and calculation logic to estimate flight emissions and create a carbon removal purchase flow.

AI is used to support the service. It does not replace user choice, human accountability or Tao Climate's responsibility for the product.

3. What Tao Carbon AI does.

Tao Carbon AI may help with:

• Understanding natural language flight requests.
• Interpreting flight numbers, routes, cabin class and passenger details.
• Structuring flight inputs into a format that can be checked by flight and carbon data systems.
• Presenting estimated flight CO2 information in a user-friendly way.
• Explaining the estimated CO2 removal quantity available for purchase.
• Estimating the small digital footprint associated with an AI calculation session.
• Preparing user-facing payment and confirmation information.
• Supporting future reporting, certificates and customer dashboards.

Tao Carbon AI is designed to help users understand and act on carbon information. It is a climate and travel information service, not a decision-making system about people.

4. What Tao Carbon AI does not do.

Tao Carbon AI does not:

• Make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
• Assess whether a person may travel.
• Approve or reject any travel booking.
• Set airline prices.
• Make credit, insurance, employment, education, healthcare, immigration, law enforcement or public benefit decisions.
• Perform biometric identification.
• Perform emotion recognition.
• Create social scores.
• Infer sensitive personal characteristics.
• Use subliminal, manipulative or exploitative techniques.
• Rank people based on behaviour, identity, status or personal traits.
• Replace professional sustainability, legal, tax, accounting or regulatory advice.

5. Human control and user choice.

Users remain in control of the key actions in Tao Carbon AI.

• The user chooses what flight information to enter.
• The user can review the displayed flight, route, cabin class, passenger count, CO2 estimate and price before payment.
• The user decides whether or not to purchase verified CO2 removal.
• The user can leave the service without making a payment.
• The user can contact Tao Climate if something appears incorrect.

Tao Carbon AI is designed to support informed climate action, not to force a user into a decision.

6. AI, APIs and data sources.

Tao Carbon AI may use a combination of:

• User-entered text or voice input.
• Flight numbers, airport codes, airline names, routes, cabin class and passenger count.
• Flight data APIs and aviation data sources.
• Carbon calculation methods and emissions factors.
• Google Cloud services.
• AI models and orchestration tools.
• Stripe payment services.
• Tao Climate carbon removal inventory and project data.

Tao Carbon AI may use third-party AI models or cloud-based AI infrastructure. Tao Climate does not currently train or provide a general-purpose AI foundation model. Where third-party AI models are used, Tao Climate's role is to design, deploy and manage the Tao Carbon AI application layer and user experience.

7. Carbon calculations and limitations.

Carbon estimates are based on available data, selected assumptions, route information, aircraft information where available, cabin class and calculation methodology.

Carbon results should be treated as good-faith estimates, not absolute measurements of the exact fuel burn or exact CO2 emissions from a specific seat on a specific aircraft on a specific day.

Actual flight emissions may vary because of:

• Aircraft type.
• Load factor.
• Routing.
• Weather.
• Operational conditions.
• Airport congestion.
• Cabin configuration.
• Data availability.
• Methodological assumptions.

8. AI calculation footprint.

Tao Carbon AI is carbon-aware by design.

Where displayed, the AI calculation footprint is an estimate of the digital footprint associated with the AI-enabled calculation session. This estimate is based on available benchmark information, infrastructure assumptions and Tao Climate's own product configuration.

The AI calculation footprint should be understood as an indicative estimate, not a live metered measurement of every data centre process involved in the request.

Tao Climate may cover the AI calculation footprint through verified CO2 removal at no extra cost to the user when a user purchases flight CO2 removal through Tao Carbon AI.

9. Verified CO2 removal.

Tao Carbon AI may offer verified CO2 removal from Tao Climate's available carbon removal inventory.

The current product flow may include CO2 removal from Tao Climate's Ukraine Hemp Carbon Removal Project, subject to availability, allocation and verification status.

A purchase through Tao Carbon AI is intended to support verified CO2 removal. Tao Climate will match payments to the relevant flight calculation and issue confirmation or certificate information by email where applicable.

10. AI-generated text and explanations.

Some explanatory text, summaries or user-facing outputs in Tao Carbon AI may be generated or assisted by AI.

Tao Climate aims to ensure AI-assisted content is clear, relevant and not misleading. However, AI-generated or AI-assisted text may occasionally contain errors, omissions or unclear wording.

Users should review important information before relying on it. If something appears incorrect, users can contact Tao Climate at support@taoclimate.com.

11. Risk classification.

Tao Climate currently considers Tao Carbon AI to be a limited-risk or minimal-risk AI-enabled climate information and commerce service, not a high-risk AI system under the EU AI Act.

Tao Carbon AI is not intended for use in high-risk areas such as employment, education access, healthcare diagnosis, law enforcement, border control, judicial decision-making, credit scoring, critical infrastructure control, or access to essential public or private services.

If Tao Climate expands Tao Carbon AI into new use cases, sectors or decision-making contexts, we will review the AI risk classification and update our governance, documentation and controls as needed.

12. Prohibited AI practices.

Tao Climate does not design, deploy or support Tao Carbon AI for prohibited AI practices.

Tao Carbon AI is not designed to:

• Manipulate users through subliminal or deceptive techniques.
• Exploit vulnerabilities based on age, disability or social or economic situation.
• Create social scoring.
• Identify people biometrically in public spaces.
• Infer emotions in workplace or education settings.
• Categorise people using sensitive biometric attributes.
• Conduct predictive policing.
• Create or distribute harmful deepfakes.

13. Human oversight and accountability.

Tao Climate maintains human responsibility for Tao Carbon AI.

Human oversight may include:

• Product review.
• Testing of calculation flows.
• Review of customer issues.
• Monitoring of checkout and payment behaviour.
• Correction of bugs and misleading outputs.
• Review of supplier, project and carbon removal information.
• Escalation of serious issues to Tao Climate leadership.

14. Data protection and privacy.

Tao Carbon AI may process information entered by the user, technical usage data, flight calculation data, payment status information and related transaction references.

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. Tao Climate does not intentionally collect or store full card numbers through Tao Carbon AI.

Personal data is handled in line with Tao Climate's Privacy Policy. Users should read the Privacy Policy for more information about what personal data may be collected, why it is used, how long it may be kept, and what rights users may have.

15. Security.

Tao Climate uses reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect Tao Carbon AI and related systems.

These may include:

• Secure cloud infrastructure.
• Access controls.
• Separation of payment processing through Stripe.
• Use of secret management for sensitive credentials where applicable.
• Testing of critical product flows.
• Monitoring and bug fixing.

No online system is perfectly secure. If a user believes they have found a security issue, they should contact support@taoclimate.com.

16. Record keeping and audit readiness.

Tao Climate aims to maintain appropriate records for Tao Carbon AI, including:

• Product purpose.
• Core system functions.
• Key data flows.
• AI-enabled features.
• Calculation assumptions where relevant.

• Customer support issues.
• Material product changes.
• Known limitations and corrective actions.

These records support product quality, customer support, transparency and regulatory readiness.

17. Third-party AI and cloud providers.

Tao Carbon AI may use third-party cloud, AI, aviation, payment and data services.

Where Tao Climate uses third-party AI models or infrastructure, Tao Climate does not control every aspect of those third-party systems, including the original model training process. Tao Climate is responsible for how it integrates those services into Tao Carbon AI and for providing users with clear information about the product's purpose, limitations and support channels.

18. Changes to this policy.

Tao Climate may update this AI Transparency Policy as the product evolves, as AI regulation develops, or as new features are added.

The latest version will be made available on the Tao Carbon AI website.
