Tao Climate Ltd ("Tao Climate", "we", "our") is the data controller for all personal data processed in connection with the Carbon AI service. We are registered in Ireland. Our contact details are provided at the end of this policy.

When you use Carbon AI to calculate your flight carbon footprint and purchase CO2 removal, we collect:

• Flight information — flight number, date, and route data you provide for calculation purposes
• Payment data — processed securely by Stripe; Tao Climate does not store your card details
• Usage data — browser type, access timestamps, and pages visited, collected via cookies
• Communication preferences — if you contact us or opt in to updates

3. Purpose and Legal Basis

We process your data for the following purposes, under the following legal bases:

• Service delivery (contract) — to calculate your flight footprint and process your CO2 removal purchase. Failure to provide necessary data may result in the service being unavailable.
• Service improvement (legitimate interest) — to understand usage patterns and improve the Carbon AI service.
• Marketing (consent) — to send product updates, subject to your explicit opt-in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Legal compliance — to comply with applicable tax, accounting, and financial regulation obligations.

4. Data Retention

Flight calculation records and transaction data are retained for a minimum of 7 years to comply with financial and environmental reporting obligations. Usage data and analytics are retained for a maximum of 2 years. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time, subject to our legal retention obligations.

5. Data Sharing

We share personal data only with:

• Stripe Inc. — payment processing (subject to Stripe's own privacy policy)
• Our Ukraine carbon removal project partners — for the purpose of retiring CO2 removal certificates on your behalf
• Cloudflare Inc. — CDN and security infrastructure (subject to Cloudflare's privacy policy)
• Legal authorities — where required by applicable law

We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.

6. International Transfers

Data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area where our service providers operate. Where we transfer data outside the EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place.

7. Cookies

Carbon AI uses cookies for essential service functionality (session management, consent tracking) and optional analytics. You can manage your cookie preferences via the banner displayed at the bottom of the page.
